Kaliro Campus
UNITE Kaliro Campus is located in Eastern Uganda, 150 km east of Kampala City, and 32 km north of Iganga Municipality. It was established in 1985 as one of ten government-aided teacher training institutions in the country. It officially transitioned to the Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE) under Statutory Instrument 53 of July 2024.
The Campus sits on 210 acres of Titled land with a serene study and living environment with bamboo shades and trees. It has six students’ halls of residences with accommodation spaces for 1,200 students at a time. The Campus is connected to the National power grid, also has alternative power sources such as Solar, and generators.
The Campus has 48 members of the academic staff who are currently running 20 Programmes. We blend both academic facilities with agricultural enterprises including dairy farming, goat rearing and banana production.
UNITE Kaliro Campus infrastructure encompasses science laboratories, Agriculture laboratory, ICT laboratory, Libraries, sports facilities, a Technological Workshop, student accommodation, Dispensary, Demonstration Primary School, and a functional ECD Centre that serves as a practical Early Childhood Education (ECE) training centre.

Question How do I get admitted to the UNITE-Kaliro Campus?
Visit the Online Application Portal Apply online at https://apply.unite.ac.ug and remember to select UNITE Kaliro Campus as your preferred campus when filling in the application form.
Choose Your Programme UNITE Kaliro Campus offers Bachelor’s Degree Programmes (Pre-Service), Bachelor’s Degree programmes (In-Service), and Diploma In-Service programmes in teacher education, designed to train the next generation of professional Teachers.
Check Admission Lists: After applying, UNITE publishes provisional admission lists on its website, www.unite.ac.ug.
You can download the Kaliro Campus Direct Entry/Pre-service Admission List from www.unite.ac.ug to confirm whether you have been admitted.
Who should I contact if I'm unsure which office handles my query?
Start by contacting the campus reception desk. They will assess your query and direct you to the right OFFICE— whether that’s Dean, ARR, or another office
Can I reach campus offices by email, or do I need to call?
Yes, most offices can be reached by email, phone, or in-person visit. Email is recommended for non-urgent matters, while phone or walk-in visits are better for time-sensitive issues.

What are the operating hours for Campus offices?
Kaliro Campus offices are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Some offices may work on weekends and extended or limited hours during registration periods, public holidays, or semester breaks
Why are there no Arts courses at UNITE?
All Arts courses have been accredited by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), and shall come on board when resources allow.
Campus Admins / Student Affairs
Is accommodation in the hall of residence provided free of charge?
No. Accommodation fees are payable each semester. Pre-service students are required to pay UGX 300,000 per semester, while in-service students are required to pay UGX 150,000 per semester.
Who is responsible for maintaining hygiene in the hall of residence?
Each student is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in their room within the hall of residence. But hired cleaners clean the corridors and common rooms.
Students are expected to uphold a certain standard of cleanliness and orderliness at all times
Can students leave their personal belongings in the hall of residence during holiday periods?
No. The campus does not take responsibility for students’ personal property left behind during holidays. Students are advised to take all their belongings with them at the end of each semester to avoid any loss or damage.
